Silicon Valley startup Kno is betting that parents will want
to send their kids back to school with a lighter backpack.
The Santa Clara company and publisher Houghton Mifflin
Harcourt announced Monday night that they are renting out digital textbooks to
K-12 students. Each textbook, which can be accessed on an Apple (AAPL) iPad or
a Web browser, can be rented for $9.99 or less for a school year. Kno had
previously offered only college e-textbooks.
