Vicuñas, llamas, alpacas

Animals I spotted enoute or in the Peruvian Andes (Colca Canyon) included herds of vicuñas, llamas, alpacas and a variety of birds.

This journey also offered fine views of several volcanoes that soar to more than 20,000 feet.

The Andean condor has a maximum wingspan of 10 feet 10 inches.

I’m at 16,000 feet above sea level in the Peruvian Andes (Colca Canyon) watching the flight of majestic condors.

The Colca Canyon is the world’s second deepest canyon (nearly twice as deep as the Grand Canyon).

Condors can live for more than 100 years and once they choose a partner they will stay with that partner for the rest of their lives.
